[HIGHLIGHTS] “Differentiated by a high level of diversity”: Russian scientists have discovered two new species of red algae

Russian scientists have discovered two new species of red algae on the Pacific coast of Russia. The species, which were named after famous Russian researchers, belong to the genus Callophyllis.

As part of the work, scientists clarified the species diversity of the Pacific Ocean waters near the Russian borders and identified rare and endangered species of algae. The results of the study can be used in the work of environmental structures, according to scientists of the National Scientific Center for Marine Biology named after A.V. Zhirmunsky.
