A police officer in the state of Florida, in the United States, opened fire on a suspect, handcuffed in the back of his vehicle. The officer mistook the sound of a gunshot for that of the fall of a acorn on his car.

Luckily, the suspect was not hit despite the numerous projectiles fired. Officer Hernandez, a former military officer, was convicted of excessive use of deadly force. He also resigned from the police, before publicly apologizing. The investigation and the resulting 44-page report proved that Marquis Jackson did not have a weapon on him.
