Catherine ‘Kasha’ Rigby, 54, was traveling in the Kosovo ski resort of Brezovica. Rigby and her fiancé were skiing together off-piste when they were hit by an avalanche.

She is said to have succumbed to the impact of the collision within seconds, despite efforts to resuscitate her. She was considered one of the best telemark skiers in the world. She competed in telemark and extreme ski competitions worldwide and was the first to ski down some well-known peaks in the Himalayas.
