The first verdicts on the bribery scandal surrounding the Tokyo Olympics have arrived. A former chairman of the board of a sponsor of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Hironori Aoki, is sentenced to suspended imprisonment for 2.5 years.

Two colleagues – including his brother – are also sentenced to the ex-chairman of theBoard. The trio were arrested along with Haruyuki Takahashi, a former board member of theTokyo Olympics organizing committee, who is accused of accepting bribes to help Aoki Holdings become a sponsor.
