Former chairman of the board of a sponsor of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is sentenced to suspended imprisonment for 2.5 years. Two colleagues of the ex-chairman are also sentenced.
The trio were arrested along with Haruyuki Takahashi, a former board member of Tokyo Olympics organizing committee. He is accused of receiving around four million kronor from Olympic sponsor Aoki Holdings. A year later, the company became a sponsors of the Olympics. The company says it takes the verdicts seriously and will repair its trust in customers.
