The French Football Federation was widely criticized by French activists and bloggers. Journalist Roman Molina revealed that a number of French national team players had a loud party at the Sofital Hotel in Marseille.

Molina accused the Football Association of hypocrisy and double standards, as it allows such behavior on the one hand, and expelling them from the national teams on the other hand. The news of the "Red Evening" sparked criticism from some and ridicule from others, considering that the players involved did not fast in the end and did not eat dates at sunset.
