Rowing Ryuta Arakawa selected to represent the Paris Olympics. At the last Tokyo Olympics, he was the first Japanese athlete to compete in the men's single sculls since the 1996 Atlanta Games, finishing 11th.

His specialty is his dynamic rowing, which takes advantage of his 1.85 cm tall physique. He won a bronze medal in the 2018 Asian Games and a silver medal at the 2023 Asian Games, his second consecutive medal. He placed 8th in this event at the World Championships in September 2023, earning him one spot to compete.
