Open water swimmer Hironobu Minamide selected to represent Paris Olympics. 27-year-old Daishin Minamide placed 25th in the men's 10km open water swimming at the World Swimming Championships being held in Qatar, Middle East.

Minamide is from Wakayama Prefecture, and this will be his second consecutive Olympics following the Tokyo Games. The gold medal went to Krzysztof Rashovski of Hungary, silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics.
