24-year-old Nanako Fujii won the Japan Women's 20km Race Walk Championship with a time of 1 hour, 27 minutes and 59 seconds. Fujii has been selected as a representative for the Paris Olympics.
She has steadily gained experience on the world stage, finishing 6th at the World Championships a year ago, and 14th at last year's World Championships. She won her second championship at the Japan Championships last year, and was aiming for a consecutive victory and a spot on the Olympic team for the second time.
