Toni Nadal has not played since losing in the second round of the Australian Open on Jan. 18.

The holder of 22 Grand Slam titles announced on Thursday that he will not be able to play the Mutua Madrid Open. His last chance of shooting in a tournament before Roland Garros will be in the Masters 1000 of Rome, which begins on May 8. The Mallorcan, 14th in the ranking, only has one victory in the four matches played in 2023: against the British Jack Draper.
