Kenya's Evans Chebet won the Boston Marathon on Monday for the second year in a row, winning in 2:05:54, well ahead of his compatriot and favorite Eliud Kipchoge, only 6th. Tanzanian Gabriel Geay, finally 2nd.

Chebet, who achieved the first double in Boston since 2008, broke away from his last two pursuers in the final kilometers ahead of Geay and compatriot Benson Kipruto. For his first participation in Boston, KipCHOge, double Olympic champion (2016, 2021), world record holder (2 h 01 min 09 sec in Berlin on September 25), was dropped at the 30th kilometer.
