All-Japan Judo Invitational Weight Class Championships were held in Fukuoka City. Naori Hamada, the gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, won the women's 78 kg weight class for the fourth time.
Hamada has not been able to achieve the results she had hoped for recently, finishing 7th at the Grand Slam Tokyo in an international tournament last December. No athletes who have been selected to represent the Paris Olympics participated in the championships, which were held on the 7th.
