Most sports clubs and players around the world were keen to congratulate Muslims on the advent of Eid al-Fitr. The official accounts of football teams were filled with expressions of congratulations and pictures of blessings in Arabic or other languages.
FIFA offered the well-wishers, through its official Twitter account, commenting: "Wherever you are, FIFA's sincere wishes to spend a happy EidAlFitr with your loved ones, every year and you are fine" Arsenal published a video clip that included its Egyptian star Mohamed El-Neni and a number of the club's fans.
