Emerse Faé was named interim coach of Côte d'Ivoire on January 24. He replaced Jean-Louis Gasset and his assistant Ghislain Printant.

Faé led the Elephants to the final of the African Cup of Nations. The 40-year-old was born in Nantes and played for FC Nantes between 2003 and 2007. He is part of the same generation as Florent Sinama-Pongolle, Anthony Le Tallec and Mourad Meghni.
