Van Aert suffered several fractures in a crash at the Dwars door Vlaanderen race. The 29-year-old is a three-time Olympic silver medalist in the men's cyclo-cross event.
Van Aert was one of ten riders involved in the crash, which took place 67 km from the finish. The other riders were injured in a separate incident at the end of the first stage of the race, which was won by Aleksandr Kuznetsov of Russia.
