Drazen Petrovic died in a car crash in Germany on June 7, 1988. He was 28 years old and a star player for the Croatian national team.

The forward was known as a "murderer" by his former coach Lolo Sainz. Former teammates Zan Tabak, José Luis Llorente and Moka Slavnic remember him as an "incredible worker, an incredible fan, and an incredible example for all young people of how to progress" "He was very cordial, friendly, easy to deal with, he almost never got angry," says former white base of his later coexistence.
