The short track speed skating competition of the 14th National Winter Games was held on the 16th in the Hailar Division of Hulunbuir City. In the first gold medal day competition, Sun Long of the Jilin team and Zang Yize of the Heilongjiang team won the men's and women's 1500m finals respectively.
The surprisingly successful "rabbit tactic" left a deep impression on the audience both inside and outside the field. Sun Long also won a silver medal in the 2000m mixed team relay with his teammates that day.
