Yoshimi Yamashita of Japan was selected as a referee at the Soccer World Cup, which will start in November.

According to FIFA = FIFA, it is the first time a woman has been selected as a referee in the Men's World Cup.

On the 19th, FIFA announced a total of 129 referees, including the referee and assistant referee, and the referee in charge of the video assistant referee at the World Cup Qatar tournament, which will start in November.



Mr. Yoshimi Yamashita from Japan was selected as a referee for the referee candidate based on his achievements so far.



According to FIFA, three of the 36 referee candidates, including Mr. Yamashita, are women, and this is the first time a woman has been selected as a referee at the Men's World Cup.



FIFA says, "It's not about gender that matters to us, it's about quality. They're always performing at a high level and deserve the World Cup."



Mr. Yamashita is 36 years old.



She was registered as an international referee in 2015.



She was the referee in the women's match at the 2019 Women's World Cup and last year's Tokyo Olympics.



She was also the first female referee in the men's match in both the J-League last May and the Asian Champions League last month.
