The league game in Swedish hockey is approaching and first out, already next weekend, is SDHL, the Swedish women's hockey league.

Last year's season was interrupted in the absolute final stage, just like in other major hockey series, and for the first time in 13 seasons, no team was named Swedish champion.

But HV71 won the basic series, 18 points ahead of second place Luleå.

One match every week on SVT

Just like last season, SVT Sport broadcasts an SDHL match this week.

- We launched "Match of the Week" from SDHL last year with broadcasts on SVT Play.

Now we are taking further steps in our investment and will also broadcast several of the matches on Sweden's largest TV channel SVT1 during the autumn, says Åsa Edlund Jönsson.

We know that there is a growing interest in SDHL and therefore it feels fun to make the league available to even more TV viewers.

Classic hockey meeting first out

First out on SVT1 is the prestigious meeting between Brynäs and Leksand, the premiere day on 12 September.

- To open the season with a classic meeting between Brynäs and Leksand feels really good.

Brynäs fought at the top of the table last year and of course wants to challenge for the gold again this year, so the season premiere will be an interesting measure of value, says Åsa Edlund Jönsson.
