The French male and female swimmers each won the silver medal in the 4x100m medley event at the European Swimming Championships in Rome.
The women's relay first showed the way by smashing the French record, before the men's relay took second place behind Italy.

At the European Swimming Championships in Rome, the women's and men's relays both finished second in the 4x100m medley event.
First, French swimmers Pauline Mahieu (backstroke), Charlotte Bonnet (breaststroke), Marie Wattel (butterfly) and Beryl Gastaldello (freestyle) shattered the French record for this distance, with a time of 3:56.36, three seconds better than the old record.
They finish behind the Swedes, European champions, and ahead of the Dutch.
13 medals in total for the French delegation
Shortly after Wednesday evening, the French swimmers took the silver medal behind the Italians, untouchable and logically European champions, the podium being completed by the Austrians.
Yohann Ndoye Brouard (backstroke), Antoine Viquerat (breaststroke), Clément Secchi (butterfly) and Maxime Grousset (freestyle) clocked 3:32.50 and did as well as the girls a few minutes earlier.
They offer a 13th and final medal (3 gold, 7 silver, 3 bronze) to the French delegation in Rome, after very successful and promising championships for the next Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
Ndoye Brouard bronze medalist in the 100m backstroke
French swimmer Yohann Ndoye Brouard, crowned Saturday in the 200m backstroke, took the bronze medal in the 100m backstroke on Wednesday at the European Championships in Rome behind the Italian Thomas Ceccon and the Greek Apostolos Christou.
Ceccon (52.21) and Christou (52.24) were too strong for Ndoye Brouard (52.92), who still gave France its 11th medal of these European Swimming Championships.
The other Frenchman involved in the final, Mewen Tomac, took 8th and last place.
