Tottenham Hotspur player Heung-Min Son's English Premier League (EPL) 'Player of the Month' award has been unsuccessful.

The EPL Secretariat has announced that Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has been named the 'Player of the Month' award for December 2021.

Sterling won his third career trophy last month, scoring five goals and providing an assist in five league matches, leading Manchester City to lead.

Son Heung-min, who scored 4 goals and 1 assist in 5 matches last month, was also included in the nomination, but it did not lead to the award.

In addition to Son Heung-min and Sterling, the nominees included Joao Cancelo (Manchester City), James Madison (Leicester City), Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal), Mason Mount (Chelsea) and Martin Odegor (Arsenal).

The manager of the month award also went to Pep Guardiola, with Manchester City winning two trophies in December.

As the 'Goal of the Month', Arsenal's Alexandre Lacazette scored the first goal in the match against Southampton on the 11th of last month.

The opportunity that Arsenal had created from build-up to perfection was a goal finished by Lacazette with a right-footed shot from the center of the penalty area.
