A man was shot and killed Friday evening in Vénissieux in the Rhône.

This tragedy comes two days after a shooting during a settling of scores in the Gerland district of Lyon.

So far, the victim has not been identified.

A man was shot and killed Friday evening in Vénissieux in the Rhône, we learned on Saturday from the Lyon prosecutor's office.

The man shot and taken care of at Vénissieux hospital died of his injuries on Friday around 11:30 p.m., said the Lyon prosecutor's office, confirming information from the regional daily Le Progrès.

The victim has not been identified

Shortly before, around 10:20 p.m., the police and emergency services had received calls reporting shooting and an injured person on the Place du Marché in Vénissieux.

On the spot, the police services had not discovered any victim but had noted the presence of blood on the public highway.

Several people present spoke of shootings and indicated that a person had been transported to the hospital of Vénissieux.

For the time being, the victim has not been identified, according to the prosecution.

An investigation opened for "intentional homicide"

The investigation opened for "voluntary homicide" and entrusted to the judicial police of Lyon "should determine the reasons and circumstances of the passage to the act", he specified.
