The Jordanian Al-Wihdat Club confirmed that it will not participate in the Al Ain International Volleyball Championship, which will be held in the UAE next month, due to its refusal to normalize with the Israeli occupation.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from 18 to 28 next month, with the participation of the UAE organized Al Ain Club and a number of Arab, Asian and African clubs.

"Officially, Al-Wehdat Club announces its apology for participating in the Al Ain International Volleyball Championship," Al-Wehdat Club said in a statement posted on its official account on the Facebook website - yesterday, Monday.

Pages against normalization and Palestinian and Jordanian activists praised Al-Wehdat Club's stance on participating in the tournament.

The account of the "I am an Arab against normalization" team on Facebook welcomed the decision of Al-Wehdat Club to withdraw from the tournament organized by the Emirati Al-Ain club, "which is involved in normalization against the background of its partnership with the Israeli Maccabi Haifa club."

He added that "sports are necessarily a moral act that does not identify with the displacement of peoples and the colonization of their land, and the Ana Arabi team calls on all free sports clubs to boycott the championship after Al Ain Club became part of the official Emirati system that fell to the occupation."

In turn, Palestinian writer and political analyst Yasser Al-Zaatrah said in a tweet on his personal account on Twitter, "A normal and expected position from Al-Wehdat Club, all clubs and fans in Jordan reject normalization and consider it a disgrace. This is the position of the nation's fans."
