Nils van der Poel is perhaps Sweden's biggest Olympic gold jumper of all.

And even outside the ice, he is one of sports Sweden's biggest profiles, known for his thoughts and philosophies - which stand out compared to many others.

Concerned about human rights

But when he on Tuesday, at a digital press conference before the Olympics, he became, for the sake of the unusual, a little hesitant.

He did so after saying he was concerned about human rights in China, whereupon he was asked if he could develop it.

- It would not be so wise of me to criticize regimes that I am about to stay in if I want to live a long and fruitful life, he replied then, before adding:

- But I can develop it in a month or so.
