Milan announces its withdrawal from the European Super League

Italian soccer club Milan have said they will not participate in the European Super League, officially leaving Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid the last three teams in the stalled project.

Milan stated: "We agreed to the invitation to participate in the Super League with a real intention to present the best possible European championship to football fans around the world and for the benefit of the club and its fans."

He added: "Change is not always easy, but development is necessary for progress, and the characteristics of European football have evolved and changed over the decades."

He stressed: "Nevertheless, the voices and fears of fans around the world about the Super League have been clearly expressed, and AC Milan must be sensitive to the voices of those who love this wonderful sport."

On Sunday, 12 clubs announced the organization of the European Super League championship, but during the last 48 hours there were problems after the six English clubs withdrew from participating.
