Ivan bids farewell to Tokyo Olympics after losing in judo

Today, Ivan Romanko, player of the national judo team, bid farewell to the under-100kg competitions after losing to his Canadian counterpart Shadi Al-Nahhas in the 32nd Judo Tournament of the Summer Olympics hosted by the Japanese capital, Tokyo.

All that was left for the UAE was the participation of the national team runner, Mohamed Hassan Al-Nubi, in the Olympic forum next Saturday.

For his part, Nasser Al-Tamimi, Secretary-General of the Judo and Wrestling Federation, stressed that the participation of the pair Victor and Ivan Romanco, players of the judo team in the Tokyo Olympics, and their qualification and preparation was done in the best possible way, noting that the Judo Federation family hoped to repeat the success of Rio de Janeiro in 2016 in order to make them happy. The leadership and people of the Emirates received a colorful medal, which will be worked on starting next September, according to the union’s plan for the next eight years during the Paris and Los Angeles sessions.

Al-Tamimi said in a press statement, “We apologize to the leadership and people of the UAE for not being able to achieve an Olympic medal in Tokyo.” He added, “The Judo and Wrestling Federation always considers failure the biggest motivator and motivator to work, address negative matters and modify them, and enhance the positives and gains in every forum.”
