Of course, the traffic situation on the Honam side is very difficult. Under Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, trains cannot travel from KTX, and there are many places where highways are cut off. It is difficult to recover right away under local circumstances. So it looks like this will continue for a while.

This is reporter Min Kyung-ho.

water was filled on the straight track, the railroad road turned into a canal.

Due to the torrential rain in the Honam area, water was filled up to the railroad tracks, and the Jeolla Line operation from Iksan Station in Jeollabuk-do to Yeosu Expo Station in Jeollanam-do was completely stopped from 10 am on the 8th.

Accordingly, all trains on the Jeolla line operate only from Seoul to Iksan Station.

[Lim In-soon/KORAIL Public Relations Manager: After the torrential rains are over, the flooding of the track and such things must be completed before we can start working in earnest. It is difficult to tell you about the resumption of train operation now.] At around 6:20

a.m. earlier today, the water level in the Wolgokcheon stream in Gwangju rose and Gwangju Station was flooded and traffic was stopped.

Many parts of the highway suffered from torrential rain.

At 7:30 this morning, a landslide occurred at the entrance of Samae 3 Tunnel on Suncheon Wanju Expressway, Namwon, Jeollabuk-do, and at 10:45 am, soil poured along the slope near Janggi Bridge 2 on Tongyeong Daejeon Expressway in Muju, Jeollabuk-do.

In the case of Janggi Bridge 2, where the amount of spilled soil is relatively small, traffic has resumed on the first lane of the two lanes, but the Samae 3 Tunnel is still completely stopped in the direction of Suncheon.

The Korea Expressway Corporation explained that it is difficult to determine full-scale restoration or resumption of traffic as the soil continues to flow down, and that first of all, it has no choice but to wait for the rain to stop.

At Gwangju Airport, all flights that were delayed for about 30 minutes to 2 hours once in the morning due to continuous heavy rain were canceled from 5:45 pm.
