The 14th typhoon 'Chantu' is approaching Korea in earnest after passing the sea near Shanghai, China. It is expected to pass through the southern seas of Jeju as the route changes further south than initially expected, but it is predicted that heavy rain will continue in Jeju, where it has already rained a lot, although it is a bit farther inland.

strong wave crashes as if it swallows the breakwater, and constantly sprays white spray.

There was a strong wind that shook the palm trees, but the rain stopped.

The rain that had been pouring 30mm per hour on Jeju until dawn began to catch its breath in the afternoon.

This is due to a change in the path of the typhoon.

If you look at the movement path of typhoon 'Chantu', you can see a unique pattern when it diverges.

The situation until today (15th) is that the typhoon that was close to Shanghai, China was blocked by the high pressure just above it and stayed in place for a while, then was pushed southward by the stronger high pressure.

However, as this high pressure weakens tomorrow, the typhoon is expected to travel northward and approach Korea.

The estimated route descended several tens of kilometers further south.

The typhoon will pass through the sea south of Seogwipo rather than north of Jeju at dawn on Friday, moving at a speed of 20 km/h, and exiting to the sea south of Busan around 4 PM.

When passing through Korea, the typhoon is expected to maintain an intermediate strength due to the influence of the surrounding high pressure.

As we move further inland, the rain on the south coast will decrease somewhat, but the predicted rainfall for Jeju has increased.

On Thursday and Friday, strong winds of over 35 m/s and heavy rains of up to 400 mm were forecast for Jeju Island, while strong winds of over 20 m/s and rain of over 120 mm are expected in the southern coast.

In most parts of the central region, 5 to 60 mm of rain can fall.
