Yesterday (25th), a fire at a mountain in Ganjeon-myeon, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do was extinguished at 10 am today, 21 hours later.
The fire, which started near the fern field, spread with a strong wind with a maximum wind speed of 16 m/s or more.
The forestry authorities issued the first stage of the forest fire, and 15 helicopters and 403 people were put in to extinguish the fire overnight.
Forest authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the area of damage, believing that the embers were splattered while the residents were mowing.
The Central Forest Fire Prevention Headquarters of the Korea Forest Service said, "A strong wind speed of 25 meters per second or more is expected centering on the east coast of Gangwon-do and Gyeongbuk, so a large-scale forest fire risk forecast has been issued and the national crisis warning level for forest fire disasters has been raised from caution to alert." .
