The Japan Sumo Association has decided to hold this July event in the same city of Nagoya as usual.

If it is held, it will be held at this place outside of Tokyo for the first time in 1 year and 4 months since the spring place held in Osaka City last March.

The main place of sumo wrestling is usually held in Osaka City in March, Nagoya City in July, and Fukuoka City in November, but due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, a large number of wrestlers move and stay for a long time. Since July last year, the venue has been moved to the Kokugikan in Tokyo and Ryogoku to avoid this.

The Japan Sumo Association held a board meeting on the 1st and decided to hold this venue at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium in Nagoya City in July.

This is the first time in one year and four months since the spring venue was held in Osaka last March.

Mr. Shibatayama, General Manager of the Japan Sumo Association, explained that the Kokugikan will be used as a boxing venue for the Tokyo Olympics, so it will not be possible to hold this venue in July. We have to take measures against infection. "

The maximum number of spectators is 3,800, which is half the number of seats in the venue, and all wrestlers will undergo a PCR test before moving to Nagoya.

On the other hand, since the situation of the spread of infection cannot be predicted, Mr. Shibatayama, the director of public relations, said, "We must keep an eye on future trends and announcements from the government." I showed my thoughts.
