Angelique Kerber has reached the second round at the French Open.
After a big fight, the German number one defeated Magdalena Frech from Poland 2:6, 6:3, 7:5 in Paris on Monday.
Two days after her triumph at the tennis tournament in Strasbourg, Kerber needed 2:28 hours for her success.
The three-time Grand Slam tournament winner even had to fend off two match points before she made progress on the second attempt perfectly.
The 34-year-old is now dealing with French wildcard player Elsa Jacquemot.
Before Kerber, Andrea Petkovic had already successfully mastered her opening hurdle.
The Darmstadt native won 6-4, 6-2 against French Océane Dodin and is now playing against Viktoria Asarenka from Belarus.
