In the second week of January, Dubai will host the International Charity Sports Festival, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council and Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Protection of the Rights of People of Determination, and organized by the Asian Paralympic Committee and Dubai Club for People of Determination, in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council and Laval United Football Club in Dubai.
The proceeds will be allocated to benefit people of determination in Asia.
The week-long festival includes several activities, most notably: the establishment of a charity market, and an online auction that will open next November until the date of the festival.
This came in a press conference yesterday, which was attended by Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, Assistant Secretary-General of the Council Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Chairman of the Asian Paralympic Committee Majid Al-Usaimi, Vice-Chairman of the Dubai Club for People of Determination, Mohammed Abdul Karim Julfar, and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Company Laval United Football Club in Dubai, Yahya Kurdi President, and former World Cup stars Carlos Dunga, Santos Aldair and Paulo Henrique.
And the former Brazilian national team stars Roberto Carlos, Rivaldo and Zico, and German star Ralph Wilfgon, participated in the conference, as well as the champion of People of Determination and the national team player, Aisha Al Muhairi.
Saeed Hareb said during the conference: “The UAE has always been a pioneer since its establishment in launching and supporting charitable initiatives and attracting elite stars to participate in these events, the entire proceeds of which are allocated to charitable work, and this role continues and is strengthened year after year, following the approach of the wise leadership in sponsoring and supporting needy people everywhere in the world.
He added, "We greatly appreciate the participation of the world's top Brazilian football stars in this charitable initiative, and to play a match that will bring joy to the masses, support the help of many categories of people of determination in a number of Asian countries, and provide them with their necessary needs."
For his part, Majed Al-Osaimi said, "There are about 65% of people of determination around the world who are in Asia, and they are in dire need of support," stressing that "the entire proceeds of this festival will be devoted to sustainable projects and the provision of tools and programs for people of determination in 20 Asian countries." .
He added, "The organizing committee received approvals from international stars to participate in this event, including German football legend Franz Beckenbauer and France national team star Zinedine Zidane, who gave their initial approval, along with other stars."
Dunga praises Dubai's initiatives and festival goals
The former Brazilian star Dunga praised the idea of the charitable project hosted by Dubai, which accompanied the remarkable humanitarian initiatives, and the desire expressed by a number of international stars, to appear at this event to provide everything available to them to draw a smile on people of determination in all parts of the world, especially in Asia.
He said in a press statement: "The idea and objectives of the festival are more than wonderful, and will contribute to supporting services directed to people of determination, caring for them and rehabilitating them to be an important element in their societies."
