South Korea had a dream position to score the first goal of the match after just over half an hour.

Ui-Jo Hwang found an open area at the penalty spot but his direct shot flew wide.

But it was Uruguay who came closest in the first half.

Just before the half-time break, the experienced team captain Diego Godin got to the top of a corner and headed the ball into the inside of the post.

Despite stars like Heung-Min Son, Federico Valverde and Luis Suarez on the pitch, neither South Korea nor Uruguay got the offense right.

Towards the end of the game, Valverde tried his luck from distance and hit the outside of the post, high up on the crossbar.

The South Korean goalkeeper lunged, but used a good goalkeeper's eye (?) and kept his hands back.

South Korea tried to take the chances to push forward on the counterattack when the opportunity arose, but had neither the number of players nor the sharpness to threaten.

The match ended 0-0, it is the fourth World Cup match so far that has had those final numbers.
