With a gun in his luggage?
No, too risky.
In his premeditation, he bought a pistol in America, which he had shipped to France, in poste restante, in Paris, where he quietly recovered the package.
He then went to his ex, in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, of which he had kept the keys to the apartment, and it is there that he would have surprised his former companion with his new lover, a collateral victim in this double murder.
The suspect was therefore arrested in the United States and allegedly confessed to American investigators.
The French authorities have requested his extradition.
