Midfielder Corentin Tolisso and N'Golo Kanté, injured, have withdrawn from the next three qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup, the French Football Federation announced on Wednesday, which called Mattéo Guendouzi and Adrien Rabiot as reinforcements.
Tolisso was "the victim of a muscle injury to the left calf" and Kanté is "insufficiently recovered" from an injury to the left ankle, said management of the Blues.
Guendouzi and Rabiot will join the selection Thursday morning in Strasbourg, where France faces Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday (8:45 p.m.) without Olivier Giroud.
The world champions are then due to travel to Kiev to face Ukraine on Saturday, before hosting Finland on Tuesday in Lyon.
Good start to the season for Guendouzi
Holder of the Euro, Adrien Rabiot (19 caps) was not initially called by Deschamps because of a zero playing time with Juventus Turin, who preserved him at the start of the season because of an embarrassment muscle in the left thigh. But the 26-year-old midfielder played his first competitive minutes on Saturday with Juve against Empoli, as the holder.
Guendouzi (22) was called in September and November 2019 by Deschamps, who had not used him, however.
