After the resignation of Katanic, the Portuguese Queiroz is approaching the training of the Iraqi national team

Yesterday, Portuguese Radio Two confirmed the news that Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz will lead the Iraqi national football team in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, to succeed the resigned Slovenian Katanic, due to the late payment of his dues to the Iraqi Federation for the game.

The radio said that Queiroz is looking for a new experience, after the recent failure with the Colombian team in the Copa America.

In a related context, Iraqi websites reported that the value of the contract with Queiroz amounts to two million dollars, over two years, and indicated that the official announcement is only a matter of time.

In turn, in a previous statement, former Iraqi national team captain Younis Mahmoud said that the next coach will have a global identity to lead the Lions of Mesopotamia.

It is noteworthy that the group in which Iraq will play in the World Cup qualifiers will bring it together with the Emirates, Syria, Lebanon and South Korea.
