Woo Sang-hyeok faced a crisis at 2m 31, 5cm lower than his best record.

He failed twice in a row and was pushed to the brink, but once loudly shouted "I can do it", he jumped over the hurdle.

Having regained his self, Woo Sang-hyuk fully enjoyed his remaining challenges.

After he induced the applause of the crowd, he ran to the rhythm and crossed the 2m 34 in just one attempt.

As competitors such as Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Tamberry failed one after another and the championship was confirmed, Woo Sang-hyuk could not hide his overwhelming emotions.

He wiped away his tears and finished his historic leap with a salute after only challenging the 2nd round of the 2m37, Korean record.

Woo Sang-hyuk, who won Korea's first medal in gold at the World Indoor Athletics Championships, cheered with a bright smile from the top of his podium.

[Woo Sang-hyeok / National High Jump National Team: I feel so good, the title of 'World Championship' may be a burden in the future, but I will try again (with my best).]

Physical weakness 'power of positivity'

At 188cm tall, he is shorter than his competitors over 190, and he overcame all the bad conditions with his right foot being 15mm shorter than his left due to a car accident when he was young.

[Woo Sang-hyuk/High Jump National Team: There was a lot of pressure on the right side, so I did a lot of balance training really systematically.

(Appetite) I really put up with it and I lost about 10kg.]

I also broke the prejudice that Korean athletics was not allowed under coach Do-kyun Kim.

[Woo Sang-hyeok/High Jump National Team: You always believed in me.

'You can do it' 'You can become a world-class player' I always believed that I could do it because I trusted the coach.]

Sang-hyeok Woo will challenge new history once again at the outdoor world championships in July.
