The fire at the golf apparel distribution center in Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do was extinguished after 21 hours of all night firefighting work.

142 people working at the time were evacuated, and one logistics center official who tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher suffered burns on his arm.

In addition, the inside and outside of the four-story, 14,658 m² building was burned, causing property damage estimated at 4.7 billion won by the fire department.

The fire started yesterday (23rd) around 11:40 am.

Fire authorities believe that after a fire of unknown cause broke out in a tent-type warehouse located outside the distribution center, the embers moved to the outer walls of the building and spread.

It is said that golf clothing stored inside the building acted as a spark, and the fire spread quickly.

It was also found that the sprinkler did not work properly at the time of the fire due to a pump failure.

The fire department has issued the first stage of response in which all fire department personnel are dispatched within 16 minutes of the occurrence of the fire.

After mobilizing dozens of equipment, such as helicopters and pump cars, and 267 firefighters, the response stage was lifted.

Also, after cleaning up the remaining fire until night, the light was completely turned off at around 8:55 this morning, which took about 21 hours and 10 minutes.

As soon as safety measures are completed, the fire department plans to conduct an on-site inspection of the burning building.
