Fouls, penalties, substitutions, cards, balls ... Since June 1, many football rules have been updated. They will be applied for the first time at the Women's World Cup, which begins this Friday in France. Unlike FIFA, which organizes the Women's World Cup, UEFA has decided to delay the entry into force of this new regulation, waiting for June 25 to apply them. Thus, the victory of Liverpool against Tottenham in the Champions League (2-0), the League of Nations or the matches of the France Men's team for the qualifiers of the Euro 2020 are not concerned. Which hands will now be sanctioned?
This is the subject that is still debated in football. Which hands should be punished, and which should not? In an attempt to clarify hand fouls, Fifa has listed the situations in which a hand must be sanctioned. The referee will now carry the whistle to his mouth if the ball touches the arm while it is above shoulder level, in an unnatural position. There will also be penalty if the player increases the surface of his body by spreading his arm, if he scores a goal of the hand or the arm, or if he controls the ball of the hand or the arm and that this involves a occasion of purpose.
However, the player will no longer be at fault if the ball bounces off a part of his body, or that of another player nearby, before touching his arm or hand. There will be no penalty either if the player touches the balloon arm or hand falling, and his arms are used to cushion the shock.
Faster replacements
Put yourself at the opposite of the bench just before being replaced to have to cross the whole field, and thus save time, it is now finished. From now on, a replaced player will have to "leave the field by the point of the nearest field of play where he is, unless otherwise specified by the referee". In fact, this situation was already present when a player of a team led to the score wanted to be replaced as soon as possible. This will now be the case for all replacements.
The sidelines can be penalized
Coaches and their assistants too virulent or who do not respect the limits of the technical zone? This will now be sanctioned. The referee may put cards, yellow and red, to any member of the staff on the sideline. If he can not identify the offender, the head coach will be sent the card. In addition, a player sanctioned with a card for a goal celebration (jersey removed, celebration too long, offensive gesture ...) will retain his card even if the goal is ultimately denied.
The walls will no longer be disturbed
You know this mode of the player of the team in attack which is placed in the wall to disturb the vision of the goalkeeper? It will not be possible anymore. Now, on each free-kick, if the defending team forms a wall made up of at least three players, then the players on the attacking team must be at least one meter away from the wall, or indirect franc in favor of the defense team.
More balls on the ground ... unless the referee touches the ball
The referees are part of the game, and are therefore sometimes brought to be in the path of the ball. From now on, if the referee touches the ball, and that leads to a goal opportunity or a change of possession, then the game is stopped and goes back to a ball on the ground. This is the only condition for the referee to decide a ball on the ground, since now, when the game is stopped because a player is on the ground, then the ball is returned to the team having possession at the time stop, and is no longer disputed by an in-between. In fact, it was already the case, and the players were acting with fair play. It's now in the rules.
Fifa regulates penalties and goals
To disrupt a penalty shooter, the goalkeepers will have to find something other than posturing between their two poles. Fifa now forbids goalkeepers to touch the posts, the crossbar or the nets, at the time of a penalty. But it allows however the goalkeeper to have only one foot on his line at the time of the shot, against the two until then. Regarding the goal outs, the ball will no longer need to get out of the penalty area to be played, the goal is to smooth the game.
Clarified chills
Since the 2014 World Cup, Fifa has allowed referees to grant a "cool break" in half of each match period when temperatures are too high. From now on, the referee will have the choice between two types of breaks. The "recovery break" will last only one minute, while the players will have between 90 seconds and three minutes during a "refreshment break", depending on the choice of the referee of the meeting.
