The Hawksbill Sea Turtle, found dead in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam three months ago, arrives at the animal hospital.

This endangered tortoise is in an aquarium. It was released far in front of Yeosu, Jeonnam.

[Kim Il-hoon / National Institute of Marine Biology and Resources: I discharged in June and was found dead in Tongyeong in July.]

There was no trauma other than the wound around the neck, and when I did an autopsy I found some rubber tubes for connecting the faucet in the intestine.

On the outside of the rubber tube, there is a domestic label, and several pieces of plastic were found stuck inside the tube.

The packaging with pills came out as well.

[Lee Hye-rim / National Institute of Ecology: I opened the beginning of the large intestine, but it came out with the hose (rubber) cross section and the plastic stuck together.]

Since last year, 42 turtles were found dead in the sea, and nearly half of them came with garbage such as vinyl, plastic and fishing lines.

More than 20 sea turtle mortals are found annually, and six sea turtles that are autopsied this time were found dead between the east and south seas between June and July.

Marine pollution is serious, with 84% of the plastics out of marine debris except grass and wood.

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is planning to introduce waste fishing deposits and six garbage collection vessels by 2030 to reduce plastic waste by 50%.
