The first trial of Lee Eun-hae (31) and Jo Hyeon-soo (30), the defendants in the 'valley murder' case, has been delayed by one week.
According to the Incheon District Court today (25th), the first trial of Mr. Lee and Mr. Cho, who were arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, and attempted violation of the Special Act on the Prevention of Insurance Fraud, was postponed to 10:30 am on June 3rd.
This is because, at the time of the warrant review, two private attorneys were appointed, not public defenders designated by the court.
It is known that Lee and Cho's parents were jointly appointed.
The lawyers jointly appointed by Mr. Lee and Mr. Cho delayed the application for a change of date with the appointment of an attorney at the Incheon District Court the day before, and the court also accepted this and postponed the first trial.
Their first trial, scheduled to be held on the 27th of this month, has been changed to the 3rd of the following month.
Mr. Lee and Mr. Cho were charged with murdering Mr. A (39 years old at the time), the husband of Mr. Lee, in Yongso Valley, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, on June 30, 2019 at around 8:24 pm due to an internal relationship.
Prosecutors determined that they deliberately killed A, who did not know how to swim, to jump into a valley without any equipment from a 4m-high rock, aiming for 800 million won in life insurance.
Lee and Cho were arrested by the police at an officetel in Goyang on the 16th of last month, four months after they hid ahead of the second investigation by the prosecution on December 14 last year.
