Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki said in a speech at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters meeting held at the Seoul Government Complex today that "the number of confirmed cases yesterday (new daily) is 661, and tensions cannot be released."
The number of new confirmed cases decreased by 19 from yesterday (680), but reached 600 for two consecutive days.
Accordingly, the government decided to extend the current'social distancing' (step 2 in the metropolitan area, step 1.5 in the non-metropolitan area) and ban private gatherings for five or more people by three more weeks until the 23rd of next month, and implement the special quarantine week for one more week.
