The Dubai Sports Council announced the launch of the activities of the fifth session of the Dubai Fitness Challenge tomorrow, and will continue until November 27, in more than 30 places in Dubai, most notably the headquarters of the "Dubai Expo", where a sports headquarters was established there to exercise for all visitors to the exhibition.

The initiative aims to make society more healthy and fit by doing 30 minutes of daily exercise over 30 days, with the aim of taking care of physical and mental health.

This came during a press conference held yesterday morning via the "Zoom" feature, and was attended by the Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council Saeed Hareb, and the Executive Director of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Corporation Ahmed Al Khaja.

The Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council stressed that the fifth edition of the initiative is different in everything as it coincides with the country's celebrations of the fiftieth year, in addition to the launch of Expo 2020, the largest global event in the UAE.

Saeed Hareb added: “The Dubai Fitness Challenge has become a part of the community that the family awaits every year, and now the family is competing with itself during the challenge.

The purpose is not to achieve records but to play sports, and to make society more active.

The country’s celebration of the fiftieth year and the presence of the Expo give the initiative great importance, and expand the base of participants, and I invite all members of society to participate in this important annual event by exercising 30 minutes every day.”

For his part, Executive Director of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Corporation Ahmed Al Khaja spoke about the activities and program of the initiative, and said: You are on a date with the three free fitness villages affiliated with the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which are distributed on “Kite Beach”, “Expo 2020 Dubai”, and “Mushrif Park”, which is expected to provide an atmosphere full of activity and vitality over the 30 days of the challenge. The Kite Beach Fitness Village by DB World and 16 areas dedicated to various sports and fitness, offers HIIT exercises, yoga, cycling and water sports.

He added: “There are temporary football pitches, as well as basketball, and paddle tennis courts that are ideal for matches and competition, and the Fitness Village at (Expo 2020 Dubai) offers its visitors an area of ​​5,400 square meters to establish fitness activities designed specifically for exercise, where there is a gym next to it. The Expo’s Mobility Pavilion, a five-a-side football field, a multi-use court for basketball, netball, volleyball and tennis, in addition to a global fitness theater that offers many daily classes to motivate participants to move and be active.”

Al Khaja said: “The Dubai Cycling Challenge on Sheikh Zayed Road will be held in a different way, sponsored by DB World, and it is one of the most prominent events this year, as tens of thousands of fans of this sport are expected to join in riding their bicycles on Sheikh Zayed Road while having fun. With a stunning panoramic view of the city of Dubai with its distinctive landmarks. The challenge will be held on Friday, November 5, and welcomes everyone with abilities and experiences to ride a bike within the general path on Sheikh Zayed Road, with a length of 14 km for those aged 10 years and over, in addition to a 4 km long family-friendly track suitable for children of younger ages. Participants in a tour around Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard and Burj Khalifa.

He added: “The Dubai Running Challenge will return from a highway to the running track and will be presented by Mai Dubai on Friday, November 26, where participants of different ages and physical abilities will gather in the huge running track on Sheikh Zayed Road as part of a unique and unparalleled sporting event.

The starting point is near the amazing Museum of the Future, while competitors will pass the most important landmarks of Dubai, whether they are on the 5 km or 10 km track.”
