So there was no need to worry about our national Teddy Riner.

The two-time Olympic champion, beaten twice in 2020 after more than a decade of unbinding, showed that he would be the big favorite at the Olympics in 2021. For his first round of the year, Riner flew over the Doha Masters, winning in particular in the final against Russian Tasoev.

ALL TEDDY!

Riner, who aims, at 31, to conquer in the Japanese capital a third Olympic coronation after 2012 and 2016 - an unprecedented feat in heavyweights -, defeated Russian Inal Tasoev, world No.3, in the final.

Last February, it was the Japanese N.2 Kokoro Kageura who inflicted his first defeat since September 2010 and after 154 consecutive fights, in the third round of the Paris tournament.
