Athlete Kutyan Michael Machik Ting (30), who has a disability in his right arm, held a long-term training camp in Maebashi, his host town, in Tokyo because his home country of South Sudan was inadequate due to the civil war. I am aiming to participate in the Paralympics.
However, due to the influence of the new coronavirus, international competitions have been canceled one after another, and opportunities to participate in the competition have been lost, so participation in the Japan Championships in Para-athletics, which will be held in Tokyo from March 20, will be permitted as a special case. I did.
Michael will compete in the 100m and 200m and run with other Japanese athletes, and the time will be recognized as an official record.
In addition, adjustments are being made so that three South Sudanese track and field athletes who are aiming for the Tokyo Olympics while staying in Maebashi can also participate in the top-level competition in Japan.
