A crisis in a Syrian league match because of "orange"
The management of the Syrian Al-Wehda Club confirmed its intention to submit an official complaint to the General Sports Federation in Syria, related to the abuses suffered by the club's team and its fans during its last match, which it gathered in front of its host Al-Ittihad Al-Halabi in the 12th round of the league, which ended with a 1-1 draw.
The fans of the Aleppo club circulated a picture of its player, Mohammed Al-Ahmad, eating an orange, after scoring the equalizer, especially since the well-known title of Al-Wehda club in sports circles is "Damascene Orange".
Al-Wehda club confirmed on its official Facebook page that it would submit an official complaint to the sports leadership in Syria, and explain the extent of the abuse that the club suffered during its match against Al-Ittihad.
The statement said that it expects the management of the Al-Ittihad club to take the necessary disciplinary measures against the offenders, including what happened to the team's player, Mohamed Al-Ahmad.
The statement pointed to "the efforts of the match referee, Muhammad Al-Abdullah, who tried repeatedly before and during the match to contain the situation and absorb the anger of the fans, and stopped the match on two occasions, during which Al-Abdullah asked the leader of the Al-Ittihad team to communicate with his team's stands to stop insulting and obscene phrases."
