On this Mother's Day, gifts were bought at Fleurop for an average of 43.57 euros.
This means that the amount per order at the florist is about 16 percent higher than a year earlier.
This is mainly because in addition to bouquets and flower arrangements, extra gifts have often been sold, including flower vases or a photo card.
"More and more people are ordering a gift shop item with a bouquet," says Jeroen de Zwart, general manager of Fleurop.
"This year, chocolate, which has been added to nearly 10 percent of orders, is the favorite extra."
Online flower delivery company Fleurop already indicated in the run-up to Mother's Day that it expected to sell five to six times as much. "The weekend before Mother's Day, about 50 percent extra orders are already coming in. During the week this increases further, whereby it is even five to six times as busy as normal on Friday or Saturday", De Zwart told NU. NL
