FNV advocates a 5 percent salary increase for store employees. The union mainly urges chain stores that have performed well during the corona crisis to increase wages.
During the corona crisis, stores such as construction and grocery stores delivered higher profits in many cases compared to the same period in 2019.
FNV therefore wants the wages of shop staff to be increased by at least 200 euros gross per month. The union hopes that this vital professional group will be rewarded for its work during the corona crisis.
FNV's appeal is in line with the union's long-standing campaign to raise the minimum wage to EUR 14 an hour. Many store employees currently earn around the current minimum wage of 9.54 euros per hour.
