Over the next five years, the provinces of Noord-Holland, Flevoland and Utrecht will have at least twenty thousand electric car charging points on the street. Now there are 4,820 charging points in this region.
The posts are placed on request. Residents with an electric car can submit it to their municipality. If a charging station is used frequently, a second one is placed nearby.
The charging stations are supplied by oil giant Total. The electricity comes from 134,000 solar panels to be installed.
The expansion of the number of charging stations is in line with the government's strategy to have half of all cars driving electrically by 2030. To supply all those electric drivers with electricity, 500,000 charging points are needed.
