Dutch airports received a record number of passengers in the third quarter, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported Thursday. That is the largest number of passengers ever measured in a quarter.
All airports, except Groningen Airport Eelde, experienced the busiest summer ever this year, the CBS notes.
Just over 20 million passengers traveled via Amsterdam Schiphol in the third quarter, a growth of 0.2 percent compared to the third quarter of 2018.
The growth in the number of passengers at Schiphol has been leveling off for some time because the airport is facing the maximum number of flight movements of 500,000. The number of flight movements also decreased compared to the third quarter of 2018.
The busiest day at Schiphol was Monday 5 August. Then no fewer than 235,000 passengers traveled to and from Schiphol. The top three airports where travelers go and come from, consist of Heathrow (London), Barcelona-El Prat and Dublin Airport.
